Physiotherapy

What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy helps to restore movement and function to anyone affected by an injury, health condition or disability.

Physiotherapists use in-depth knowledge of how the body works, combined with proven techniques. The goals of physiotherapy depend on the patient’s specific needs, but common desired outcomes include a reduction in pain, increased endurance and strength, increased range of motion and a greater quality of life.

Physiotherapy aims at restoring, promoting and maintaining physical health based on scientific knowledge and evidence-based practice. Physiotherapy treatments are based on extensive research and observations before implemented and is strictly regulated by various governing bodies. More practices have come to rely more and more on evidence based practice to make sure that treatments are consistent and effective. Physiotherapists stay on the cutting edge of scientific advances in health care though continuing professional development in order to deliver the most up to date care for patients.

Exercise Prescription

Our physiotherapist will provide precise plan of fitness programme that are just designed for our client’s need. Due to the distinct and individually designed exercise prescription, outcome is maximised. Components of exercise prescription will include type of exercise programme, workloads, duration and frequency of exercise and any caution for exercise given.

Ultrasound

Therapeutic ultrasound is commonly used in physiotherapy. The ultrasound wave frequency penetrates deep into soft tissues and provide deep heating under the skin surface. The involved structure includes cartilage, ligament, muscles and tendons. Ultrasound gives potential heating effect to those structures under the skin thus increase local blood flow. Hence this process will help to reduce local swelling and chronic inflammation.

Shockwave

Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive method that involves an acoustic wave which produce and transmit high mechanical energy to painful area in subacute, sub chronic and chronic conditions. The energy accelerates regeneration and reparative processes of tissues underneath the skin layer. This procedure may treat conditions such as Achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis and tennis elbow.

Neuromuscular Stimulator

Neuromuscular Stimulator offers a complete choice of current wave forms combined with preset programs and simultaneous therapy. It helps with relaxation of muscle spasm, prevention or retardation of disuse atrophy, increasing local blood circulation, muscle re-education, immediate post-surgical stimulation of calf muscles to prevent venous thrombosis and maintaining or increasing range of motion.

Laser Therapy

The low levels of light energy absorbed by tissue will help to reduce pain, inflammation and edema by promoting healing of injured tissue.

Taping

Physiotherapist will carefully examine the problem area and applies tape directly to the skin in order to maintain a stablility of bones and muscles structure.
