Neck Pain

What can cause Neck Pain?

Disc Herniation

The disc is made up of Nucleus pulposus in the centre and Annulus Fibrosus in the outer. If the disc is damaged, the nucleus pulposus bulges through Annulus Fibrosus. This bulge will pinch the cervical nerve causing radiating pain down the arm.

Whiplash Syndrome

This is a neck injury followed an motor vehicle accident. Sometimes minor car accident does not cause typical symptoms but it may appear within few weeks later. The symptoms may include headache, neck pain, shoulder pain and weakness and numbness in the shoulder and arm.

Cervical Joint Degeneration

It occurs after repetitive wear and tear of joint structures commonly causing pain in the neck and stiffness in the morning.

Hyperlordosis or Hypolordosis

Lordosis means curvature of spine. Either too much increase or decrease in the neck curve will alter the position of gravitational force of the head and cause long term discomfort of the neck.

Facet Syndrome

Facet is the joint between two spinal bones that makes the neck mobile. Due to the alteration of gravitational force of head weight, more stressful compressive force goes through the facet joint, it may eventually cause inflammation of the facet.
